SPS Technical is delighted to announce a new partnership with York St John University for its CCTV provision. Following on from the successful take-over of the security contract at the university last year, the technical division of the SPS Group has now secured the contract for the campus CCTV systems.
The security team started work with the picturesque university, in York city centre, at the beginning of April last year, following a TUPE transfer from the previous security provider. Other requirements became apparent and SPS Technical has now been awarded the on-going CCTV contract.
The highly skilled team have now completed a programme of upgrades to the CCTV system across the main campus, sports centre and remote student accommodation sites. Security officers are now able to view all sites 24/7 from the main office. The technical division, led by Lee Holgate, has also secured the on-going equipment maintenance.
Lee, Technical Director, commented: “Our security team are already providing manned guarding on the main campus, monitoring the CCTV in the Security Office and mobile patrol response in an SPS patrol vehicle. This programme of upgrades to the CCTV systems now enable 24/7 manning from the central office, including visibility of the remote sites and sports centre, which they previously didn’t have. It enables the whole security provision for the university sites to be seamless and effective all the time.”
The site is run on a shift pattern of three officers on days and four on nights. The team on-duty are expected to cover a range of different duties which involve responding to issues on site ranging from students being locked out of rooms, noise complaints, anti-social behaviour, thefts and First Aid. The main campus is also open to the public and this in itself can bring another element of incident, so effective CCTV systems and guarding are essential.
