Demonstrations at your doorstep
SPS realise that when it comes to demonstrating CCTV equipment to customers, the hardest part is establishing the products’ performance in-situ. For this reason we have access through our partners Vista to a fleet of long wheel base Mercedes vans to take the demonstration right to their doorstep.
Costing around £80,000 each, the vans have their own dedicated driver who is fully qualified to perform in-depth demonstrations on the van’s Vista equipment. As well as taking the installer and end user through the various security solutions onboard, they can also offer tips and advice on how to get the very best images for the end user’s specific environment.
All the latest Vista products are on-board, including ProtosIV cameras, vandal resistant domes, ANPR cameras, Wavereader software and Triplex™ and Quantum DVRs. Other features include air-conditioning and seating for up to six people in the back, along with a fully stand-alone on-board generator.
“The fleet of Vista vans allow customers to actually see the products functioning, at the site in which they would be installed,” says Mark Pritchard, divisional director of Vista. “This allows the customer to see exactly what issues may affect the images, and how the equipment could be set-up to give the best possible coverage.”
If you would like to book the van for a demonstration, simply contact you’re a member of the SPS Technical services division who will be happy to make all the arrangements.
Analogue Vs Digital
Analogue is ideal for small, single site, cost conscious installations where deterrence is the primary requirement and where staff can be relied upon to practice good tape management. Digital meanwhile is the preferred solution wherever the recording of high quality images is essential, where network communications are involved, where CCTV is integrated with other systems such as access control or ATMs, or where the size and complexity of the installation (number of cameras and sites for instance) calls for a high volume recording capacity.
BS8418 - Code Of Practice
BS8418 – the new Code of Practice for the installation and remote monitoring of detector activated CCTV Systems – is set to both raise the standard of integrated systems and define the character of those systems too.
IP And The Future Of CCTV
The key to understanding the future of IP in CCTV (IP-CCTV for short) is to recognise its essentially evolutionary nature and that its growth will be determined as much by the evolution of the technology as by the eagerness of the industry to embrace it. Above all, the CCTV industry is price driven and it is increasing affordability that will eventually determine the success of IP-CCTV.
Legislation : Staying Within The Law
The simplest way to ensure compliance with the Data Protection and Human Rights Acts is to put in place a robust and thoughtful collection of Standard Operating Procedures to govern the day-to-day operational aspects of your CCTV system. By clearly defining who is to be under surveillance, why, how and by whom, many of the requirements of modern privacy legislation will be swiftly met. Once established, such watertight procedures should ensure legislative compliance with the minimum of additional burden on the organisation.
